Biopra co-founders Nathalie Rouleau, Stéphane Parent and Mathieu Arcand combine over 30 years experience in developing assays for kinases, GPCRs, epiegenetic and other enzymes, biomarker detection, immunogenicity and biological drug characterization. While at PerkinElmer, they have developed more than 200 assays and have collaborated with all major pharmaceutic and biotech organizations. The team at Biopra understands specific needs associated with research and drug discovery.
Nathalie Rouleau, M. Sc.
Chief Executive Officer
Nathalie Rouleau leads Biopra operations. She obtained a B.Sc. in Biotechnolgy (UQAM), her M.Sc.in Biochemistry (Université de Montréal) and spent 5 years in Finland in Dr. Jänne’s lab at University of Helsinki. She then joined PerkinElmer and has been involved in the development of many products, numerous collaborations and various projects, including product commercialization and onsite implementation of ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards. Prior to Biopra, she held a Senior R&D Section Leader positon, managing a team of 12 scientists. She is currently sharpening her business and operation edge by completing an executive MBA at UQAM.
Stéphane Parent, M.Sc.
Chief Science Officer
In charge of all Biopra scientific activities, Stéphane Parent obtained is B.Sc. from University of Montreal in Biochemistry, and subsequently spent 6 years in the lab of Dr. Michel Bouvier, studying GPCR cell signalling. He joined PerkinElmer in 1998 working as a bench scientist in the R&D group. During is 15 years with PerkinElmer, he led the development of many Alpha products, supported customers, trained sale forces and Alpha product specialists, troubleshooted hundreds of assays and provided key technical guidance for product development, assay configuration and technology acquisition. This led him to a Principal Scientist position.
Mathieu Arcand, Ph.D.
Chief Business Development
Mathieu Arcand obtained a Ph.D. in Pharmacology (Université de Montréal) for studies on MAP kinase regulation performed under the supervision of Dr. Sylvain Meloche. During his postdoctoral fellowship at PerkinElmer, he unveiled aspects of the versatility of Alpha technologies by multiplexing Alpha signals to simultaneously monitor phosphorylation and interactions events. As a Scientist, Mathieu Arcand led the development of Alpha products in emerging field of cellular epigenetics. He contributed to numerous publications by rendering data and assay design. He brings to Biopra his cutting-edge scientific aptitudes combined to highly-developed communication skills and creativity.
